When it comes to world music and folklore, Ágnes Herczku and Nikola Parov are inescapable figures of the genre. They currently lead the band Herczku Ági and the Banda.
Their latest album, Kamara, was released at the end of 2019. In the treasure chamber(s) of the Herczku Ági-Nikola Parov composer duo, they have collected the most beautiful songs of the Carpathian Basin and the Balkans, from which they have drawn Hungarian, Slovakian, Croatian and Bulgarian melodies. A more colourful musical world than usual, touching Bulgarian and Hungarian ballads, playful bilingual cricket songs - just a taste of the album's chamber music, published by Fonó Buda Music House.
The band's previous album, Bandazom, spent two months on the world's most prestigious world music charts. The WORLD MUSIC CHARTS EUROPE top list is compiled monthly by some 50 world music experts from 25 countries around the world. Two of the two most prestigious international world music magazines, SONGLINES and FROOTS, have published critical reviews of the album, and one of the songs has been included in Songlines magazine's TOP OF THE WORLD and WOMEX compilation CDs.
The Liszt Prize winner Ágnes Herczku's exceptional talent and receptiveness to other fusion and contemporary musical genres have made her one of the most sought-after and respected folk singers in Hungary.
Nikola Parov was awarded the title of Young Master of Folk Art in the early 1980s, when he was still a young artist. As the founder and virtuoso soloist of the band Tyrant, he has gained enormous popularity and recognition at home and abroad. This made him the founder and frontman of the Riverdance Orchestra. He toured with the world-famous Riverdance show for many years, and on his return home in 2000 he wrote the music for the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble's dance production Naplegenda, which is still played to sold-out audiences and for which he received a Fonogram Award.
Entrance is free of charge!
