A martyr politician persecuted by both the Nazis and the Communists, who languished in Soviet gulags and Czechoslovakian prisons, János Esterházy, in communion with all those who suffered, hid and rescued Jews, Poles, Slovaks and Czechs, while sacrificing his life for the Hungarian minority in Slovakia.
In a co-production between Hungarian and Polish public television, Dezső Zsigmond made a documentary series filmed in five countries, which tells the life story of an extraordinary man, including his surviving relatives.

In 2022, the Hungarian Cinema Festival will be open to the public with several ticketing options. We are preparing for our film-loving guests with discounted and normal-price passes, professional accreditation and individual tickets per film and programme.


The proceeds from the festival season tickets will be used to support the education of young filmmakers. More information on the details of the support will be available soon on our social media platforms and website.
The new Hungarian Cinema Festival will take place in the beautiful Veszprém-Balaton region between 23-26 June 2021, with open-air screenings, premieres of the latest Hungarian films, international festival award winners, stars, audience meetings, children and youth programmes, restored classics, exhibitions, concerts and gastronomic programmes.
