In 2026, numerous iconic works of fiction and entertainment will celebrate milestone anniversaries – and we would like to celebrate these works and the joy of reading with a new series of programmes.
Our series of events kicks off in January, and for the first instalment we're putting a true modern classic under the microscope: Game of Thrones, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year.
The evening's guest speaker will be Dr. Nikolett Sipos, lecturer at the English-American Institute of Pannon University, whose main areas of research are fantasy literature and transmedia storytelling.
The story has been surrounded by huge hype since the first volume was published in 1996, which intensified greatly after the debut of the HBO adaptation Game of Thrones in 2011. The presentation will cover Martin's writing career and television background, as well as the history of the epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire – and we will also explore the question of what lies behind the popularity of the narrative.
Join us as we celebrate book anniversaries and the experience of reading together!
Location: the Agóra Chamber Theatre
Entrance is free of charge.
