Fun science / Optional planetarium lecture

2026.04.19. 15:00 - 18:30 Agora

The whole family is invited to the Agora with an interactive, child-friendly science programme. Admission with one performance of your choice : 2.500.-/person

In our theatre, the Travelling Planetarium will enchant you with 5 different performances of the wonders of the universe. And on the ground floor, the Bakony Astronomical Society will provide informative and entertaining entertainment with a LEGO Mars Rover demonstration, a Tangible Universe interactive exhibition and a LEGO play corner.

The Planetarium ticket is valid for all elements of the Fun Science programme:

- 360-degree planetarium shows for the whole family in a 7-metre dome,
- an interactive LEGO Mars rover session, the first in the country to offer an exclusive insight into robotic exploration of Mars,
- Tangible Universe programme - anyone, regardless of their visual ability, can explore the surface of our planetary system by touch,
- LEGO play corner.

15.00 - 15.45 Journey to the wonderful world of planets (27 min)
Recommended age: 6 years and over - adults

Spectacular images show the Solar System, from the interior to the mysterious Kuiper Belt, while you learn about the birth of stars and the formation of planetary systems. We also offer an insight into the world of star formation/planet formation. We will learn about the formation of stars, planets, our planetary neighbours, their moons and the Sun in detail, with spectacular visuals. We'll explore the major planets of our solar system and visit the dwarf planets. We'll land and travel on the surface of Mars, and then view a spectacular solar eclipse and the surface of the Sun up close. The show now includes the latest discoveries of astronomers in the field of dwarf planets!

15.45 - 16.30 A story of survival - the dinosaurs (26 min)
Recommended age: 6 years and over - adults

A topic of interest to all, in an exciting and spectacular presentation that can be understood by young and old alike. The evolution of dinosaurs - their appearance, diversity and disappearance...

16.30 - 17.15 Amazing Universe (24 min)
Recommended age: 8 years and over - adults

The amazing curiosities of the Universe in one show.
What is space like? Do we freeze in it? Astronomers have been studying it for a long time. Interesting facts about planets, the solar system, space stations, star formation.

17. 15 - 18.00 Journey to distant worlds: Interplanetary odyssey (37 min)
Recommended age: 8 years and over - adults

Our spacecraft will take you to explore the planets, curiosities and moons of the Solar System. Let's discover what we didn't know about our neighbouring worlds!
An entertaining and spectacular educational show for school children about the planets.

18.00 - 18.30 From the Earth to the Edge of the Universe (31 min)
Recommended age: 8 years and over - adults

A fascinating journey through space and time, where you can explore scientific ideas about the Universe. Enjoy the journey and learn about the path of scientific discovery, from the theories of ancient Greek astronomers to the wonders revealed by today's largest telescopes.
- How did the early explorers explore the universe and what tools do we use today to study the planets and celestial phenomena? What are telescopes and space probes like today?
- What the planets of the Solar System look like up close and what celestial phenomena are beyond our Solar System.
Spectacular images of the near and far reaches of the Universe.
The European Southern Observatory's half-hour full-duplex film spans amazing distances in time and space. From the birth of the Universe to the last moments of the Solar System, we follow the life of stars and planets, the milestones of ancient and modern space exploration, and the relationship between man and space.

15.00 - 18.30
LEGO Mars Rover session

Interactive LEGO Mars rover session gives the first exclusive insight into robotic exploration of Mars in the country. With the remote-controlled, programmable LEGO Mars rovers from the Bakony Astronomical Society, children can experience for themselves how these machines operate and control a 4×3 metre Mars field table. They will also learn first-hand about the latest developments in programming and space exploration. The three Mars vehicles, each with a different design, will reveal all the exciting details of this field of science in a playful way.
The manipulator arm of the Clarke2001 rover is used to demonstrate the movement of rock sample containers. Using the Clarek2010 rover's wifi camera, participants can monitor and control the visual exploration robot on a tablet display. And our Pathfinder vehicle, built with a special suspension, will demonstrate the off-road capabilities of modern Mars rovers on a large table set up for the session.
Let's learn about the most exciting branch of space exploration through games and the latest advances in modern technology!

Tangible Universe interactive programme
The Bakony Astronomical Association first developed its programme for the blind and visually impaired, but their colourful, tactile models with audio commentary soon became popular with sighted people too. As a sensory programme, they have succeeded in putting together a material where anyone, regardless of visual ability, can learn about the surface of our planetary system's celestial bodies by touch, even by sight. Each of their models is accompanied by a text description, so that anyone can listen to the story of the formation of a particular surface or celestial body using smart devices.

A LEGO play corner will be available during the programme.
