His sons want to put him in a nursing home, but the grumpy old man doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in an institution, so he runs away. While shopping in a grocery store, an irresistibly attractive scent - a mixture of chainsaw oil, pine bark and sawdust - shakes him out of his morose mood. The scent belongs to a free-spirited woman named Saimi. Her words, her looks and her touch awaken long-forgotten feelings in him, and shed light on the loneliness of a long widowed man. It is through family encounters, absurd misunderstandings, moonlit baths and sleepless nights that we discover that the power of the role can penetrate even the oldest flannel.
