When protests erupt in Tehran, an investigating judge's gun unexpectedly disappears. In his previously close-knit family, a toxic atmosphere develops and paranoia takes over... Director Mohammad Rasulof faced imprisonment and flogging in his home country, from which he managed to escape in an adventurous way and was able to attend the premiere of The Seed of the Sacred Fig in Cannes in May 2024, where he was awarded the Special Prize. Since the Cannes premiere, several members of the cast have fled Iran.
