German black comedy with subtitles, 86 min, 2025
Dir: Frédéric Hambalek

Berlin International Film Festival: competition film
What would you do if you found out that your daughter had telepathic powers and could see and hear everything you did without a filter? That's exactly the situation that Julia and Tobias, in a seemingly idyllic relationship, find themselves in. Their daughter Marielle, a primary school pupil, unwittingly brings the problems that have been swept under the table to the surface and confronts her parents with the lies they have been telling each other, and most importantly, themselves. After the adults' most embarrassing secrets come to light, they try to play out the new rules of family dynamics in the most absurd ways.
The most shocking film at this year's Berlinale is a sharp satire and absurdist comedy that is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marielle Knows Everything is "like a Yorgos Lanthimos film co-directed with M. Night Shyamalan".
