🔹You decide. You focus on what you've lost or what you still have.
"I have often been asked what is most important to me in the theatre. No matter which way I approached the answer, somehow I always came up with the same answer: theatre should be fun.
By fun, I don't mean men of mature age with their trousers down to their knees, slathering beer foam in each other's hair.
The best way I can define entertainment is that if you are sitting at a bus stop, an old man sits down next to you and starts telling you about his life, do you miss the next two buses to listen to him or not. And if you find his story interesting, it's most certainly not because he's only telling you happy things, but because it makes you feel something. That is what people want most, to experience great emotions. To laugh big, to cry big.
Edit Éva Eger's book The Decision knows this. A 93 year old woman (well, 92 and a half) tells her life story, full of joy, love, charm, and then suddenly horrors happen to her that burn into your brain. Impossible to forget or forgive. Of course, the book also tells you that if you can't forgive, you can't move on.
This is the most important story in my life right now. It's important not only because it's the first theatre work I've done with Réka, but also because I feel like I've been waiting 47 years to tell this story.
We want you to experience it with us. We can't forget it since we first read it. We hope you will too."
