Three men who were expecting a baby, but all of their lives took a 180-degree turn after their little ones were born prematurely. 'PADON - A Father is Born' is a fantasy theatre performance that follows their experiences, their struggles and their encounter with this unexpected, struggling situation. What makes the play so special is that Zsolt, Bence and László are flesh and blood fathers, their story - and with it every emotion, word and thought that appears on stage - is real.

"The work deals with a topic that today affects one in ten families in Hungary, with another eight thousand babies born prematurely every year. We want to show what lies behind the eight thousand figure. There are many people involved in premature birth: mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, grandparents, relatives and friends. It is a life event that is not only happening around us, but also within us. (Zsuzsanna Földvári Nagy, President of the National Association for Premature Infants)

"When I first read the original interviews, I was deeply touched and inspired by the fathers' testimonies. I must admit that I am no stranger to being unwillingly part of a system that rewrites the rhythm of my life. I wondered what it must be like to find oneself in a situation that is impossible to imagine in advance and impossible to tell everything about afterwards... I tried to feel when we can understand what is actually incomprehensible... For me, László, Bence and Zsolt are really emotional roller-coaster riders, who are rode on an unknown winding track of despair and gratitude...!"
(Mónika Tollár, dramaturg-director)

"It is often said that "it was hard for him to be born...!"
I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
First of all, birth is not "only" the greatest miracle - because if there is no miracle or something goes wrong, there is nothing.
Also, giving birth is always difficult. For a child, for a mother, for a father.
It was reading these illuminating, bittersweet, compelling interviews that made birth meaningful and truly relatable for me." (Péter Bozsó, actor)
