South Pole: A hellish lesson in Antarctica

2026.01.10. 18:30 - 21:30 Agora Theatre Hall

Emil Neszmélyi -47 degrees solo evening
What is a lawyer looking for after his everyday successes in one of the coldest and most unforgiving places in the world, having already climbed Mount Everest twice?
During the presentation, I will talk about the absurd challenges of survival, from extremely cold days and storms to the brink of freezing to death, through the true story of my adventure-novel-worthy expedition, accompanied by numerous images and videos that can be seen clearly from every seat in the auditorium. I will share the unknown secrets of the boundless death zone of Antarctica and the South Pole, while also showing, through the limits of science and human will, what can save someone in that cruel world where human life constantly hangs by a thread and where many have already lost their lives.

My presentation is for those who are curious about what it is like to fight against nature, our own doubts, and human uncertainty, while also taking responsibility for the lives of our companions and reaching our destination. Through the amazing, dangerous, but often humorous moments of my own expedition, I will talk about how to survive the hell of ice and reach the southernmost point of our planet on foot, walking nearly 1,000 kilometres from the coast of Antarctica in brutal cold, while remaining human. This evening is both eventful and informative, but in a different way than before.
So far, thousands of people have climbed Mount Everest with me as part of my themed evenings, and now everyone can join me on a trek to the South Pole across the icy wasteland of Antarctica. I promise we will survive this time too.
To conclude the presentation, I will be happy to answer questions from the audience, as I did during my Everest presentation.

We recommend the performance to anyone aged 10 to 100 who wishes to enrich themselves with such special experiences.
