Time for light
Does looking and seeing mean the same thing? Can one who has no eyes see, can one who has eyes be blind? How can we grasp the real, the essential, hidden behind appearances? These were important questions for the blind writer Jacques Lusseyran in the 20th century, and they are also important questions for the production of the Baltazar Theatre in collaboration with Artus, inspired by the life and two novels of the French writer. IDEA IS THE LIGHT is a production co-directed by Dóra Elek and Gábor Goda, the two companies' directors. The production is based on a true story, starring Dániel Klabacsek, a blind actor.
about the Baltazar Theatre...
Founded in 1998, Baltazár Theatre is the only theatre company in Hungary whose members are actors with intellectual disabilities, as well as those with visual and mobility impairments. Baltazár is both an artistic and a social theatre, providing opportunities for people with disabilities to showcase their talents and for audiences to experience their unique talents. Baltazar's most important goal is to prove through their performances that prejudices about disabled people can be rewritten - making the world a richer and more colourful place. The company offers opportunities for social inclusion for people with disabilities. Their performances reach out to socially sensitive audiences beyond theatre lovers.
