Glass artist Alexa Thury's exhibition
Opening: 8 November at 17:00

The exhibition will be opened by Anna Sipos, art historian
With András Vári on guitar

Thury Alexa is the glass artist who is most familiar with the techniques of "Tiffany" and "Fusing", and has also explored the worlds of classic stained glass, casting (casting-melting, glass sculpture), borosilicate (lampworking) and the magic of glassblowing.

After mastering the techniques and a few public appearances, he spent longer periods of time making door, window and furniture inserts and souvenirs for his family, while raising his children and working in other fields. Later, a new course gave him the impetus to become addicted to glass melting again, and since then he has been regularly glowing in the furnace in his workshop in Veszprém.
He tries to use every little scrap or broken piece of glass, so his creations are made in the spirit of recycling and sustainability.

His commitment is reflected in the following thoughts:

"What I like most about creating with glass is when I seem to be guided by a higher power to come up with ideas, feasibilities and solutions. I am inspired by landscapes, mountains, leaves, nature, city skylines as well as feelings and abstract concepts.

Since I lived in Balatonakarattyá as a child and we still spend a lot of time there, I have a strong connection to Lake Balaton. This attachment is reflected in a lot of my work, the shape, colour and atmosphere of Lake Balaton. It is as if I feel a kind of duty to give back all the beauty and goodness I received from Lake Balaton, which still fascinates me to this day.

I have been living and creating art in Veszprém since I was an adult, so naturally I love Veszprém very much, the Fire Tower, the Veszprém Castle and the Valley Bridge have inspired me and have also echoed in several of my works. Therefore, it is a great pleasure for me to be able to present myself in my city!

My goal and desire is to spread the beauty and uniqueness of glass art through my creations, so that this wonderful profession is not forgotten, especially since glass art has been declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage this year.

I dream of a glass-blowing factory in Veszprém or nearby, so that I can have more opportunities to practice this fabulous craft. To see, to experience, to experiment when melting, glowing, malleable and mouldable this fantastic material that has captivated me."

He has had the opportunity to show his works in the following exhibitions:
